Is This Your Life At The Moment?

  • Feeling Tired All The Time

  • Dry Skin

  • Weight Gain (despite your best efforts)

  • Constipation

  • Muscle weakness, aches and pains

  • Joint swelling or stiffness

  • Thinning hair

  • Feeling Low

  • Feel the cold

Did you know that these are signs of a Sluggish Thyroid or Hypothyroidism. The Thyroid is involved in almost every metabolic process in the body and as such is an important indicator of our health. It’s a small gland, shaped like a buttery, located just below your Adam’s Apple — on the front of the neck.

Have a feel, can you feel it? If you have a few of the signs and symptoms above, then your body is trying to alert you to the fact that things aren’t quite right.

When your Thyroid isn’t working well, then you’re not working well

While the causes for a Sluggish Thyroid are varied (diet, the environment and genetics) your Gut Microbiome, play an INTEGRAL part in Thyroid health. You see…Gastrointestinal Hyper-permeability (aka,Leaky Gut) leads to an overactive Immune System which creates a tonne of inflammation in the body! Inflammation results in your Thyroid trying to constantly normalize things for you. So what to do??? Well for starters…

It is Vital To Support, Repair and Restore The Systems That Are Depleted and Inflamed

It’s essential too…

  • Reduce systemic inflammation

  • Stimulate detoxication (slowly to keep the body balanced)

  • Eliminate dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) by introducing prebiotic and probiotic rich foods

  • Repair Gastrointestinal Hyper-Permeability

Practical steps to begin the above are to…

  • Reduce foods that don’t give you ANY fibre – e.g. Animal products

  • Include FIBRE rich foods e.g. fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans and legumes etc.

  • Support liver detoxication with a diet rich in foods that contain Zinc, Selenium, Vitamins A, C & E and Amino Acids such as Tyrosine

  • Introduce small doses of fermented foods (very very slowly)

  • Add Iodine sources such as Kelp noodles, Hijiki, Miso and Wakame Soup and Dulse flakes.
